Hi students, please practice playing 99 Bottles of Beer (Milk!) as we will record it next week in class for your eportfolios! You can also practice Happy Birthday, can you play it without the music?
This week, students learnt about Renaissance Music from the 1400s-1600s. They listened to a range of music and some students sang Viva La Musica. Students also learnt about about the Dorian scale which includes the notes DCEFGABC. Students are currently composing a short melody on the their ocarinas that uses at least four notes of the dorian scales. Click on the video links below for further Renaissance inspiration and ideas! Hi students, here are some ocarina videos for your to watch. If you check out youtube, there is quite a bit to see! Here's an ocarina and guitar duet! What do you think? Do you like the sound of the melody? What sounds can you explore and make up on your own ocarina? Hi students, here is your ocarina homework!
Learning a new instrument can be both exciting and challenging! The ocarina is very different to the recorder and it is necessary to put in some practice at home to enable you to master the instrument! Practice using the word "tu" on your ocarina, keep it light! If Time:
Our new central idea is: How we express ourselves: "Composers and performers can express themselves through music and sound."
Lines of Inquiry:
More news soon! Grade Four students have been practicing "There and Back Again." It's the longest piece that they have played in class and contains lots of syncopation! Here are students from 4.2AR playing and speaking about learning their latest song "Mary Mack." This piece has been more challenging to master as it uses the notes EGB and A. The rhythm is also a little more complex to play! However, students have practiced it quite hard over the past few weeks! |
