K2 students have started their weather picture soundscapes. Next week they need to use the musical instruments to create a musical piece. This week, K2 students continued with the song "Down By The Bay." Students chose to play two different instruments and worked in pairs. They were asked to make their own unique change (e.g. fast/slow/playing to the beat/solo playing). Each time the students played it with their buddy, they were asked to discuss their thoughts and feelings about the music created. Then selected students also took it in turns to perform for the rest of the class. Great teamwork girls and boys!
This week K2 students experimented with a range of percussion instruments to see which instruments they preferred for the song "Down by the Bay." They worked in small groups and rotated around the room trying different instruments such as the tambourines, egg shakers, maracas and bells.
K2 explored creating different vocal sounds for their recent unit of inquiry about how to create and change sound. Logan created his own vocal sounds for an imaginary car and Yilan was his front seat passenger! K2.2 have learnt to sing the "Work Song" and experimented with playing different percussion instruments. They worked in small groups and performed for the rest of the class. Ms Hazel's class (K2.2) explored their new central idea and the meaning of beat and different types of rhythm. The students played the clave sticks to the song "Music, Music, Music" and also danced to the beat. Here are K2.3 (Ms Sonja's class) exploring beat and rhythm by moving/marching to different types of music. |
