Dear Students and Parents,
It's been a fantastic week with student conference, so good to see so many students sharing their work and demonstrating their skills! It's coming up to the end of the semester, so please keep practicing and remember to bring in your instruments and music folders to class. The student council are also holding auditions for the school talent show, so I hope lots of music students will take the opportunity to share their talents with the rest of the school!

Here are some pictures of our student led conference. Lots of students and families came to the music room to understand more about what their son/daughter learns at school.
The Joy of Music:
The beauty of music is that students can always learn something new. If their passion is singing, dancing, playing or responding to music, then there is something within each lesson, to capture the interests of each child. By continuing to practice an instrument at home, students can learn to play an instrument with confidence and also start to compose their own pieces.
Practicing an instrument at home:
It is so important to practice your instrument at home. This will give you the confidence to play new pieces and to jam more with your buddies at work. Don't worry if you struggle with a new piece to start with, practice makes perfect!
How to practice:
1. Try to play the new piece through once.
2. Clap the rhythm, can you clap it in time?
3. Check the notes used? Are there any new or difficult ones?
4. What phrase patterns can you see? Where do you need to take a breath?
5. Identify the difficult areas, practice them slowly several times. Build up several measures together.
6.Run the whole piece.
